COMPLETION OF the EMBROIDERY
THIS WAS A 3/4 LENGTH SHAWL COLLAR COAT WHICH WAS DESIGNED FOR A CLIENT WHO WAS PLANNING
A TRIP TO PARIS FASHION WEEK AND WANTED SOMETHING SPECIAL.
WE DECIDED TO GO WITH A MULTI-PANEL CUT AND A STRONG SHOULDER LINE
TO GIVE IT both A CLASSIC AND TIMELESS LOOK.
HIDDEN SIDE POCKETS AND HAND EMBROIDERIES WERE ADDED TO PROVIDE A MODERN TWIST.
IT WAS DONE IN A WHITE IVORY WOOL AND CASHMERE BLEND
AND LINED WITH BLACK SILK CREPE BACK SATIN.
THE DESIGN INSPIRATION FOR THE EMBROIDERY ON THIS PIECE BEGAN WITH
THE TRADITIONAL SYMBOL OF THE FRENCH FLEUR DE LIS.
INITIALLY SKETCHED AS A SINGLE LARGE MOTIF, IT WAS THEN DECONSTRUCTED AND REPOSITIONED
TO CREATE A MOVEMENT OF NEW SHAPES WHICH RAN ALONG THE HEMLINE
AND SWEPT UP DIAGONALLY ONTO THE LEFT SLEEVE.
THE FEATHERED ORGANZA RIBBONS AND BLACK JET DROPS
ADDED DEPTH AND A TEXTURAL ELEMENT TO THE OVERALL DESIGN.
